Even in the zombie apocalypse, it's possible to live and die with honor. For Mason, hard-fighting Navy SEAL, a desert in the southwest looks like a good place for one last battle.

From the pages of Living With the Dead, this story is the first in a series of shorts exploring the many characters who haven't had a chance to shine on their own.

Soldier Lost A Short Story eBook Joshua Guess

I love anything written by Joshua Guest, so it will be no surprise to anyone to know I loved this short story.
I smiled I frowned I laughed and I cried.
If anyone is looking for a good zombie book look for one of this amazing mans books, even though they are better read in order I think they can all be a stand alone book, but I guarantee that if you read one you will want to go and read the rest, so my advise start with the first one.
I was so happy to see one of my favorite characters who I thought had died had really survived, yet another twist in the zombie world.
Thanks for a great read. Joshua, now hurry up and write faster.

Soldier Lost A Short Story eBook Joshua Guess Reviews

Great short story! I wanted it to keep going!
Would love to know how this story started and how it ends. Very exciting short story that definitely keeps you wondering.
Glad to read about Mason. I was really bummed when he died in the series, now I'm glad to have learned a bit more about his story.
Any fan of the LWTD series would agree that of any character deserving of a short story, Mason would be our pick. Loved it.
I think if you're able to take any one person from a story line and create a story from that shows great writing ability. I wonder if these were notes Joshua wrote while writing this character for the zombie books. Great read as usual. Difficult to read or watch any other zombie stuff once I started into this guy.
When we last saw Mason, he was sacrificing himself to save his friends in a last stand against the zombies. He didn't die...

This is a short story about one of my favorite LWTD characters. I am excited to see Mason again and really hope this is an indication that Joshua Guess is bringing him into his ongoing series, The Fall.

Five stars, with a happy dance included. *This is not a stand alone story. For a intro into this world, please see Year One (Living With the Dead Book 0) or Victim Zero.
A quick but extremely powerful short story from Joshua Guess, this story begins with one of the most heartbreaking moments of the Living with the Dead series and slowly heals the readers wounds. This story shows the emotions Guess can evoke with few words and the flawless knitting together of his universe through two series and now short stories.
If you're a fan of the zombie genre, or just of excellent writing from a shooting star of an author at the beginning of his (sure to be hugely successful) career, then you should definitely read this story as well as the Living with the Dead blog collection and The Fall novel series.
